Waterways appoints Barbara Nelson and promotes Chris Mayer

In meeting customer demand for its quality dining cruises, Waterways Cruises and Events announces it has hired Barbara Nelson as senior account manager and promoted Chris Mayer to manage the company’s new and forthcoming public cruise product, Lake Washington Dining Cruises.

Nelson most recently served as account executive with Hotel Nexus, where she spearheaded sales, marketing and community outreach to promote the hotel’s rooms, amenities and services, working with preferred corporate contracts and business, tour, and leisure clients. Her previous professional credits include Senior Account Manager at Clipper Navigation Inc., from 2003-2008 and special events sales manager at New Orleans Steamboat Company. Nelson, originally from Bellevue, graduated from Evergreen State College in Theatre and Dance Production and continued graduate studies in Arts Administration at the University of New Orleans. She has served with PCMA Pacific Northwest Chapter, as a member and volunteer.

As the product manager of Lake Washington Dining Cruises, which will offer a comprehensive series of dining cruises beginning in May, Chris Mayer will plan cruises itineraries, including overseeing the beverage program, designing specialty and holiday events, and assisting in promotions. Mayer previously served on Waterways’ food and beverage team. Previous local appointments include 0/8 Seafood Grill and Ivar’s Acres of Clams. Mayer is a Bellevue native and earned his Bachelor of Arts degree at Pepperdine University.

Waterways Cruises was founded in 1994 and grew from a small, family, one-yacht operation into Seattle’s most upscale dining cruise and private yacht charter company. It operates three luxurious dining and entertainment yachts (Emerald Star, Olympic Star, and Destiny), accommodating upwards of 50,000 guests per year, touring Lake Washington and offering engaging cruises with a local perspective. Waterways Cruises and Events also offers gourmet first-class catering and an outstanding shore-side banquet and entertainment facility. Learn more at http://www.waterwayscruises.com/.
